Traditional Surrogacy

Traditional surrogacy is a process in which the surrogate uses her own eggs to create a pregnancy. The sperm is either from the intended father or a donor. This process is often used by couples who are unable to have children because the woman cannot produce eggs or the man has a low sperm count.

Traditional Surrogacy vs. Gestational Surrogacy

As mentioned above, there are two types of surrogacy: traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy. In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate is also the biological mother of the child. This is because she is artificially inseminated with the father’s sperm. The baby is conceived through this process and carries the DNA of both the surrogate and the father.

In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate is not the biological mother of the child. This is because she is implanted with an embryo that has been created using in-vitro fertilization (IVF). The embryo is created using the egg of the biological mother and the sperm of the father. The baby carries the DNA of both parents but not that of the surrogate.
